Interpretation and Representation: Principles, Tectonics and Sensory
Introduction
Students were given the task of deconstructing Project Two layer by layer and approach it with a new perspective.
The structure is to be designed with a size of 20.0m3.
We were also tasked to explore different the sensory qualities of the space.
The structure must create a poetic architectural representation and ignite a sensorial experience for the user.
Reflection
Following my "layered" design from Project Two, I wanted to create the same experience as it create a sense of flow.
My design concept for Project Three is to have a "Hard + Soft" quality.
By having a hard exterior and a soft interior, it creates a contrast and allows the structure to be more intriguing.
Hard = Inorganic Shapes
Soft = Organic Shapes
As water is usually associated with calmness and flow, the sense of a soft interior mimics flow and promotes a calm, and aesthetically pleasing interior.
The layered nature mimics the layering of of wood grains, which is in essence an organic matter.
