Tectonics: Design Principles, Anthropometric and Ergonomic Exploration
Introduction
Students were given the freedom to explore the tectonics and materials by designing a structure with design elements & principles in mind.
The structure is to be designed with a size of 5.0m3. Models are to be built in a scale of 1:10 - 1:20.
We were also tasked to explore different joinery methods, as well as create a 1:1 model of the joinery.
We also learnt to create orthographic drawings as well as exploded axonometric drawings.
As with project one, we were also tasked to create two tattoo stamps, which depicts how we designed our form and space.
Reflection
Backed with the knowledge of design elements and principles from project one, this project was less challenging for me.
Project one gave me a good fundamental understanding of design principles, which really helps design structures more efficiently and beautifully.
